Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada — February 11, 2026 — A devastating mass shooting in the remote town of Tumbler Ridge has rocked the small community, as authorities confirm multiple fatalities and numerous injuries following an attack at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a nearby residence.
Deadly Incident Unfolds
On Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 10) at approximately 1:20 p.m. local time, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) received reports of an active shooter inside Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. A Police Initiated Public Alert (PIPA) was issued directing residents to shelter in place and lock their doors as the situation unfolded.
Police later confirmed that the alert was cancelled at 5:45 p.m. as investigators determined there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Casualties and Injuries
- At least 10 people have died, including the suspected shooter.
- Six victims were found dead inside the school.
- Two more bodies were discovered at a nearby home linked to the incident.
- One additional victim died while being transported to hospital.
- Approximately 25 others have been treated for injuries, with two airlifted to hospitals with serious or life-threatening conditions.
Authorities have identified a suspect, described in early police reports as a female in a dress with brown hair, who was found deceased in the school from what appears to be a self-inflicted injury.
